OUR MISSION
Bridging Craft & Conscience
Dastkar House exists to create a direct bridge between Pakistan's extraordinary artisan communities and conscious consumers in the West. We believe that the people who create beautiful things deserve to be seen, celebrated, and fairly compensated.
Pakistan is home to some of the world's oldest and most sophisticated textile and craft traditions, from the indigo-dyed ajrak of Sindh to the intricate brass engravings of Peshawar, from the vibrant phulkari embroidery of Punjab to the delicate blue pottery of Multan.
Yet these artisans remain invisible in global markets, their work undervalued, their traditions at risk of disappearing. Platforms like Etsy, while well-intentioned, create barriers: language, technology, shipping logistics, and platform fees that erode already thin margins.
How We Work
We handle everything the artisan shouldn't have to worry about: photography, product descriptions, international shipping, customs documentation, and customer service, all in English, all optimized for Western markets.
Artisans set their own prices. We add a transparent margin to cover operations, and every penny of that is reinvested into expanding the program: onboarding more artisans, providing training, and building sustainable supply chains.
Our Commitment
Fair wages: artisans earn the most profit of any other platform
Full transparency: every product page tells the maker's story
Sustainable materials: natural dyes, organic fibers, recycled metals
Cultural preservation: documenting techniques for future generations
Women's empowerment: 70% of our artisans are women-led cooperatives
